New Varieties for 2009

 

First a special thank you to all the hybridisers for their dedication and hard work in this time consuming fascination to produce something new. To give us all a challenge and an added interest to grow the new cultivars.

Arthur Phillips (G Reynolds 2009)

A single, with small flowers, Tube and sepals creamy white. Corolla deep rose. A good exhibition plant.

Cee-Jay-En (Nicholls 2009)

A single with medium sized flowers. Sepal pink. Corolla pale pink at base of petal to dark violet. Will shape well.

 

Doffie (Swaby 2009)

A small single flowering cultivar Sepal, reddish purple, Corolla deep purple suffusing to purple at base, turning magenta as it matures. Growth upright eye catching colours.

Horsforth Dream (Swaby 2009)

A medium single flowering cultivar. Sepals, rose with pale green tip. Corolla, rose suffusing to reddish orange at base. Growth lax upright, Free flowering, lovely colour combination. Makes a good standard or basket.


Just Pilk (G Reynolds 2009)

A single with small flowers, upper side of sepals creamy white, under side pale pink. Corolla dusky pink. This cultivar is already much admired, just like the person behind the name. Exhibition type.

Kateric (Nicholls 2009)

A single cultivar with medium sized flowers. Tube white, sepals upper side white flushed pink at base of petal, under side of petal flushed pink. Corolla pale violet maturing to purple pink. Will make a good exhibition cultivar.

My Little Ruby (G Reynolds 2009)

A single, with small flowers. Upright compact growth. Sepals peachy pink. Corolla pale peachy pink with bright pink edging, very attractive appearance. Show bench cultivar.

Pippa Penny (Nicholls 2009)

A single with small flowers in profusion. Tube white, sepals upper side white with hint of pink tipped green, under side white flushed pink tipped green. Corolla pale violet. Good for small pot culture.

 

Varigated Wigan Peer (Bolton 2009)

A medium double flowering cultivar. Sepals white blush pink. Corolla white. A Sport from Wigan Peer.

 

Widness Wonder (Bright 2009)

A single flowering cultivar with small flowers. Sepals white flushed pink, under side pink, corolla deep violet, petals paler at base, maturing to purple pink. Very compact grower, exhibition type

Wyndhurst (Nicholls 2009)

A single with medium sized flowers. Tube white, sepals, upper side white flushed pink with under side pink. Corolla dark violet streaked pink. Will make a good exhibition cultivar.

 

 

New Varieties for 2008

Amy Jade Whitehouse (Asson 2008)

A single flowering cultivar, of medium size. Sepals are pale pink with bright pink corolla. Lax growing will make a good basket

Chris Bright (J Fleming 2008)

a small single upright flowering cultivar. Sepals pinky red, corolla very pale pink. A banker for the show bench, easy to grow.
Parents Diva Areatha x Winters Touch.

Ellvee (Evans 2008)

Medium to small flower. Sepals Red, Corolla Violet, anthers dark red. Foliage shiny dark green. Nice as a mini standard.
Parents Janice Ann x Glazioviana

Hastings (Riley 2008)

A small single, Sepals White with a blush of pink on the underside and green tipped, corolla lavender blue. A banker for the show bench. Parents Sophie Louise x Seedling, and Barbara x Seedling.


My Little Gem (G Reynolds 2008)

A small single flowering cultivar, will make a good exhibition plant. Sepals Red/aubergine, Corolla Dark aubergine

Peter Meredith (G Reynolds 2008)

A single, with small flowers. Upright compact growth. Sepals Peachy pink, Corolla pale Peachy pink with bright pink edging, very attractive appearance. Show bench potential.

Raspberry Ripple (Swaby 2008)

A double flowering cultivar Tube and Sepals Bright red with a solid waxy texture Corolla White with heavy bright red splashes from the base.
Growth is upright. A striking flower with strong colours, which makes it stand out. Will make a good standard. Parents a seedling from Baby Bright and Zulu King x Midnight Sun

Roselynne (Swaby 2008)

A single flowering cultivar. Tube light pink, Sepals Pale pink with light green tips. Underside pink. Corolla Pale lavender with light reddish purple streak running from the base to the edge of the petal.
Growth very floriferous with upright growth. Almost a mini Carla Johnson its pollen parent, the other parent being London 2000. Will make a good mini standard, and has potential for the show bench.


Wor Geordie ( Evans 2008)

A medium sized flower. Sepals Rose pink. Corolla Lilac with Magenta anthers. Foliage medium green, with unusual dark green veining. Easy to shape for the show bench, best in 5" pot
Parents Lechlade Magician x Baby Bright.

 

New Varieties Introduced in 2007

Lynne Patricia (Swaby2007)

A double upright growing cultivar, Tube, Dark rose, Sepals, Rose base suffusing to white tipped green, underside rose tipped green. Corolla, Pale violet with rose streaks from base.

A striking colour combination, enhanced by a saucer shaped corolla.

This variety will make a good bush and also a good standard.

Allen Jackson (Evans 2007)

An Encliandra Type, Sepals Pink with orange underside. Corolla Pink. Foliage dark green. Large flowers. Strong grower.
