Details of how your cuttings have been grown

Receiving cuttings through the post,

The cuttings have been grown in 7.0cm pots in a temperature of 50°F, please try to maintain a similar temperature.

Pot up immediately into a 3½" pot or similar, and into compost with good drainage Normal compost with 10 to 20% added sand/grit or perlite.

Water sparingly for 7 to 10 days, do not put into direct sunlight,
Then water when the top of the compost begins to dry out, do not over water.

Collecting cuttings from the nursery.

The cuttings will be in 7.0cm pots, and grown in the same temperature as the posted cuttings. Check the amount of roots before potting up to 3½ or 4" pots. There is no rush to pot up if only a small root system is showing.

Do not over water at this stage. Only a small quantity of water is required in the early stages of growth but the compost must not be allowed to dry out.

For both cuttings received by post, and cuttings collected. Avoid placing your cuttings in full sun until they acclimatise to the new surroundings, especially if received by post.

To grow your cuttings into compact bushy plants

You can pinch out the growing tips of your cutting/plant at any stage of its growth, this encourages growth from the lower leaf axils.

To start at the cutting stage, remove the growing tip when two or three pairs of leaves have formed, your cutting will be between two to three inches high depending on the variety. When the new growth from the lower leaf axils have grown two or three pairs of leaves remove the growing tips again. You can do this as many times as you like, remembering a single flowering variety will take approx. eight weeks to flower and a double flowering variety will take a further two weeks, and triphylla types approx. thirteen weeks.
